COMPROMISE:
The volunteer commits to an agreed number of hours, on specific days, with a set job, but above all the volunteer makes a commitment to fight for social justice for all citizens.
ALTRUISM (Their commitment is done in exchange for nothing, without any salary…but for the simple act of contributing and participating in improving the world.)
SOLIDARY (The person that makes the commitment does so because they think that the difficult situations that are faced by the underprivileged, marginalized, poor and excluded members of society are a social issue, which involves every member of society and calls on them to come together in a unified manner for those that are less fortunate.)
TRANSFORMATIVE (The volunteer in their altruistic commitment is not limited to …but they want and should denounce situations of social injustice because their ultimate objective of their volunteering is the social transformation so that there are no pockets of poverty, social exclusion, treating persons differently based on their situation, economics, condition, etc.)
ORGANIZED AND AS COLLECTIVE: (Volunteering is not done alone. Alone you can participate as a citizens, but to volunteer it is required by Law that it is carried out in the heart of a social organization, of a non-profit, foundation, platform, etc.)
MOTIVATION, EDUCATION AND TRAINING: The reasons that people decide to dedicate time to volunteer work can differ from the satisfaction of doing justice to the benefit of working with other people or acquiring new skills that might serve them in the personal or professional lives in the future…Within the organizations the volunteers receive training, both general and specific, that might help them to learn more about the area that relates to their tasks as a volunteer. It is not the same to do volunteer work for example, with the terminally ill as with abused women, or with handicapped youth, or with the elderly.
